Recently, Xijiang Oilfield organized a special safety drill--maritime oil spill drill. The equipment and
procedures are complete and the personnel are skilled and stable.
Oil boom is a kind of equipment that uses a floating body with a skirt under the water to enclose
oil and dirt on the water surface to prevent its spread. When oil spill occurs, the oil booms can
form an oil-retaining barrier on and under the water to contain and control the spilled oil and
guide it to a suitable area for timely recovery and greatly reduce environmental pollution. Firstly,
filling the oil booms air chamber to provide the buoyancy of the oil booms, and use a tugboat
to tow the oil booms into the sea. Secondly, the oil booms are lowered by rotating in the
opposite directions, and the tugboat is slowly pulled, and the oil booms will launch into the
water and float on the surface of the sea. Then the main ship and the tugboat coordinated
to deploy "U"-shaped or "J"-shaped towed oil booms to collect the oil. Finally, after the oil
spill operation is completed, the air chamber of the oil boom is emptied, and it is reversed and
flattened for recovery.
Oil spill drills involve a large number of equipment and low frequency of daily use. In order
to ensure the good operating conditions of the equipment, Xijiang Oilfield utilizes existing
facilities and resources to conduct a comprehensive physical examination of the equipment,
and actively carry out simulation drills, constantly check for leaks, refine emergency plans
and prevention and control measures, and produce visualized emergency node diagrams,
their combat mobility continues to increase.
