It is learned from the municipal transportation department that the dredging project of the Xinbian River 

waterway(from Suxian Gate to Xugang Section) has been completed and passed the delivery acceptance.

The Xinbian River is connected with Tuohe River, Xiaosuixinhe River, and Suiheyinhe River on the upper 

side, and connected with Hongze Lake on the lower part, but it does not currently have the conditions 

for full navigation. The dredging project of the Anhui section of the New Bianhe Waterway is a high-level 

waterway project planned by our province and it is a key construction project for water transportation in 

the province's "13th Five-Year Plan". The project starts from Qiling in the northwest of Suzhou City, flows 

through Yongqiao District, Lingbi County, and Sixian County, and ends at Tuanjie Lock in Sihong County, 

Jiangsu Province. The total length is 111 kilometers. It is planned to be renovated according to the standard 

of four-level waterway,reconstructed the Tuanjie Ship Lock and Suxian County ship lock, and constructed 

new Lingbi ship lock, and at the same time,a number of bridges obstructing navigation will be renovated.

It will use dredging ships(including silt curtains) for waterway dredging.

Xinbian River is an important river connecting northern Anhui and northern Jiangsu. Speeding up the re-navigation of its waterway can make northern Anhui to reach the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal by connecting 

Hongze Lake, thereby creating a fast waterway link between northern Anhui and eastern Jiangsu. The traffic

conditions in northern Anhui and the improvement of regional economic openness are of great significance.
