Recently, Zhoushan Southeastern waters collision of merchant ship&fishing boat oil spill emergency drills
were held in the waters west of Zhoushan Zhujiajian International Cruise Terminal.
The drill was simulated when the empty-loaded "Taiyu No. 2" ship was lefting the port, the engine room
and electrical appliances short-circuited and caught fire. The ship lost control and collided with the
anchored fully-loaded oil tanker "Shangyou No. 1". Part of the bow water was partially damaged, and
the people on board were temporarily safe. The upper part of the cargo oil tank on the starboard side
of "Shangyou No. 1" was damaged, and some of the cargo oil entered into the sea, they required
emergency rescue. After the accident, the command center of the Zhoushan Maritime Safety
Administration immediately activated the emergency plan, instructed the two ships in distress to
immediately anchor in safe waters, strengthened on-site fire control, ship leakage and personnel
protection, and assigned fire-fighting tugs and several cleanup ships to fully carry out ship fire
fighting and maritime emergency treatment by using oil booms and oil absorbent pads.
By coordinating the emergency forces in the jurisdiction, and after coordinated handling by all
parties, the accidental fishing boat was plugged and extinguished; the marine oil spill was
contained, recovered and cleared. All oil pollution on the sea surface was removed, and the
collision of merchant ship& fishing boat and oil spills were effectively disposed. The drill was
ended successfully.
The drill was organized and carried out by the Zhoushan Maritime Department. A total of 14
boats and more than 100 people participated in the drill, it aimed to improve the level of
coordination among the maritime affairs department, local government, fishery department,
and social assistance in the southeast area of Zhoushan. Improve maritime emergency
