In the early morning of May 5, a company in the east export of Wuzhou City had a production accident 

involving a burst of oil pipe and leakage of heat transfer oil to the bank of the Xijiang River. Our city 

immediately organized a capable force to carry out emergency response work to control the source 

of pollution. As of 1:00 noon on the 5th, the national water quality automatic comprehensive 

supervision platform showed that the data of the automatic station on the city of Fengkai is normal, 

and it is still reach a Class I standard.

At about 9 am on the 5th, the reporter saw the leaked oil on the surface of the Xijiang River from 

the company involved, forming an oil surface of about 30 square meters at the mouth of the river. 

Oil absorbent booms were used to intercept the oil on the spot to prevent further spread. The 

relevant departments and the company members used oil absorbent pads to absorb oil stains, 

and then picked them up and taking them away for further processing. According to reports, 

the leakage of heat transfer oil was more than 50 kilograms. The city immediately guided the 

company to organize more than 50 employees to carry out oil pollution cleanup. The Municipal 

Ecological Environment Bureau cooperated with Wanxiu District emergency teams, enterprise 

employees, and professional environmental protection pollution control. The company’s 

emergency personnel set up three oil booms to intercept the oil pollution, and cooperated 

with the maritime department to inspect the water surface along the river downstream to 

the border of Guangdong and Guangxi, and Zhaoqing’s Fengkai area by water and land. 

At the same time, they actively coordinated the participation of professional technical 

forces. In the emergency monitoring of the water quality of the Xijiang River, they paid 

close attention to the relevant data of the national water quality automatic comprehensive 

supervision platform. No obvious oil pollution on the river surface has been found, and no 

ink adhesion marks have been found in the soil on the bank.
