Recently, the Zhenjiang Port Wharf Dagang Automobile Ferry Dredging Project held a groundbreaking ceremony.
The project site has been officially constructed, marking an important step in the new exploration of the
comprehensive utilization of dredged sand in the Zhenjiang section of the Yangtze River and local engineering
construction.
As a demonstration city for the comprehensive utilization of dredged sand along the Yangtze River Channel, it
has strictly abided by regulations and exerted positive effects in expanding the comprehensive utilization of
dredged sand, which has been recognized by the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Commission, the Yangtze
River Navigation Administration, and the Jiangsu Water Resources Department. The comprehensive utilization
of dredged sand(by using silt curtains and dredging vessels) from the Yangtze River Channel can promote local
economic development, alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand of sand and gravel along the
Yangtze River, and help reduce the impact of dredging projects on the water environment of the Yangtze River.
The implementation of the Dagang Automobile Ferry Dredging Project has profoundly practiced the spirit of
the important instruction of “to protect together and not engage in large-scale development”, and will follow
the unified supervision and guidance to ensure the same frequency of quality and efficiency. While further
improving the navigation conditions of Dagang Automobile Ferry Terminal and improving the overall level of
shipping business, it also fully fulfilling its social responsibilities and using all the dredged sand produced by
dredging in Mengjia Port to strengthen levees and prevent floods, and then effectively ensured local safety
and stability.
