Zhangzhou Maritime Safety Administration conducts unannounced ship pollution removal drill.

The drill was simulated at the joint inspection anchorage 3 nautical miles west of Dongshan Bay 

Gulei Channel 4#, An anchored tanker "A" was hit by a fishing boat into the cargo hold, caused 

part of the cargo (fuel oil) to leak, and about 15 tons of fuel oil leaked to the sea. The Zhangzhou 

Sea Area Ship Pollution Emergency Site Command immediately launched an emergency response 

plan and notified Xinghaida (Zhangzhou) Ship Service Co., Ltd.(a ship pollution removal unit 

with national first-class qualifications in its jurisdiction) to start the actions quickly.

This drill was focused on accident alarms, emergency activation, maritime alert and surveillance, 

oil spill recovery, emergency communications and other emergency support. Without prior notice, 

the Zhangzhou Marine Pollution Emergency Site Command was temporarily commanded for 

assault drills were issued, and an assault spot-check drill approaching actual combat was conducted.

The cleanup unit is required to drive an oil spill emergency response vessel and carry a specified 

number of cleanup equipment and materials(such as oil booms and oil absorbent pads), and 

arrived at the designated simulated pollution accident site as soon as possible within the 

specified time to carry out cleanup work. After more than 2 hours of treatment, the oil stains 

were removed.
