Recently, an alarm was suddenly sounded off the waters off the Qianjiang Wharf in Nan'ao, Shantou.
A fishing boat lost control while sailing and crashing into an offshore wind power planning project
platform, it was caused some oil pollution to flow into the sea. This situation sounds very "urgent".
But don’t be nervous, this is just an oil spill emergency drill.
The "Huadongyuan 306" platform, located in the 50-80 nautical miles of Nanao Island, is currently the
deepest adaptable sea area, the strongest wind and wave resistance, and the most complete offshore
wind power survey operation platform in China. At the beginning of the drill, a fishing boat had an
accident during its voyage and the ship was collided with the platform, then it caused the platform's
fuel tank to rupture and some fuel oil leaked into the surrounding waters.
After receiving the danger, the "Eastern China Institute 306" platform immediately started emergency
deployment, carried out personnel rescue, and deployed oil booms to prevent the oil spill from spreading
further. At the same time, it requested the maritime department for reinforcements. Then they sent
professional ships to spray oil spill dispersants for cleaning, and then threw oil absorbent pads to
absorb all the oil in the enclosed sea area, and then picked up the oil absorbent pads and put it
on the shore for treatment.
After an hour of intense treatment, the oil spill was successfully removed. According to reports, there
are more than 400 ships passing by in the waters of Nan’ao every day, and the navigation environment
is extremely complicated, and safe production operations cannot be relaxed. In this emergency drill, a
total of 8 ships and more than 70 rescuers were dispatched to effectively test the emergency response
capabilities and efficiency of oil spill accidents in Nan’ao waters, and accumulated practical experience
for participating units.
