Sponsored by the Beihai Maritime Search and Rescue Center and organized by the Beihai
Maritime Safety Administration, the 2020 dangerous goods ship fire fighting, oil spill and
life-saving emergency drill was held in the waters of Shenhua Wharf, Tieshan Port.
More than 90 people participated in the exercise with one drone sortie.
On the day of the exercise, four subjects were set up, including emergency towing
and departure of dangerous goods ships, fire emergency for dangerous goods ships,
personnel search and rescue, and oil spill containment and removal.
At the beginning of the simulation, when a dangerous cargo ship was operating
in the port ,it accidentally caught fire, and the blazing fire threatened the safety
of the terminal tank farm at all times. After the emergency response was initiated,
the Beihai VTS Center quickly coordinated and organized boats for emergency
rescue. The two high-horsepower tugboats that arrived at the scene first used high-power water cannons to protect the fire scene; Jinhui Tug No. 6 ship carried out
emergency towing to the accident vessel, and at the same time, the sea search
and rescue volunteers rushed to the accident vessel to carry out the overboard
crew search and rescue, and then handed over the rescuers to the accompanying
medical staff for rescue. Then the two cleaning vessels set up oil booms and
put in oil absorbent pads, spraying oil spill dispersants to contain and clean up
the oil spill. With the efforts of all parties, the danger was finally successfully
controlled and the exercise was achieved a success.
