The 2020 Qiantang River passenger and cargo ship collision emergency sssistance drill
will be held in the waters off Hangzhou Binjiang Wharf. The drill is hosted by the
Hangzhou Port and Shipping Administrative Law Enforcement Team, with Yao
Shengliang, a member of the Party Group and the second-level inspector of the
Municipal Transportation Bureau, as the commander-in-chief. The drill was
dispatched a total of 13 boats, 1 drone, and more than 80 participants. It covered
multiple units such as maritime law enforcement agencies and water transport
companies. The drill was real-time through several platforms such as CCTV,
Zhejiang Broadcasting Group China Blue News Client, etc.
The drill was simulated a sudden rudder failure of a passenger ship on the
Qiantang River and a "collision" with a cargo ship down the main channel.
This drill was set up 9 subjects including distress alarm, abandon ship
preparation, cabin first aid, traffic control, passenger transfer, personnel
search and rescue, fire fighting, leak plugging, and pollution prevention
by using oil booms and oil absorbent pads. It is the most comprehensive
drill on water so far and the richest content.
