In order to effectively respond to emergencies and improve safety emergency and rescue capabilities,
in the afternoon of the previous day, Gaochun held a ship overturning and pollution prevention and
rescue emergency drill in Gucheng Lake, which laid a solid foundation for the area to carry out water
search and rescue and ship oil spill pollution emergency treatment.
At 14:00 that day, with the order of the drill commander, the emergency drill was kicked off. The
exercise simulated the dangerous situation of the ship suddenly encountering water in the large
wind turbine cabin, the hull touched and damaged, the main engine stalled, and the power was
lost. Soon after the incident, the ship began to sink and there were 3 crew members on board.
After the simulated accident, the ship in distress immediately organized and carried out self-rescue, and quickly requested help from the 12395 Alarm Center of Gaochun Maritime
Department. After receiving the alarm, the maritime department immediately activated the
"Emergency Rescue Plan for Major River Traffic Accidents in Gaochun District" , then they
coordinate navigation, port, marine, fishery and other departments to rush to the scene
for rescue.
In accordance with the principle of unified command and unity and cooperation, all units
quickly and efficiently carried out water search and rescue, and made every efforts to
eliminate and reduced the risk of accident losses. The exercise carried out five subjects
including rescue of overboard personnel, rescue of ships in distress, fire fighting, oil
spill handling by using oil booms and oil absorbent pads, and accident investigation
simulation. Five ships, two rescue vehicles and more than 40 participants participated
in the emergency exercise.
