On September 16, Hunan Province's 2020 water search and rescue drill was kicked off 

in the rainy waters of Yuepo, Dongting Lake, which was sponsored by the Hunan 

Provincial Department of Transportation and Yueyang Municipal People's Government.

The drill was consisted of five projects including life rescue, simulated hazardous 

chemical ship firefighting and anchor-moving emergency treatment, water oil 

pollution control and removal by using oil absorbent booms and oil absorbent pads,

ship salvage and towing, and review of participating ships. Maritime affairs, 

public security, armed police, and firefighting , Waterway, environmental 

protection, fishery administration, communications, meteorology and blue sky 

rescue, ship salvage, pollutant recovery and disposal units, and many other

units participated in the performance, it aims to further improve the organization, 

command and emergency response capabilities of water search and rescue,

enhance communication and coordination of search and rescue operations 

among member units of maritime search and rescue, and fully test the 

practicability and operability of the emergency plan for maritime search 

and rescue in Hunan Province.
