On June 17, the Wanzhou Maritime Department and Chongqing Changhang Rescue
and Salvage Engineering Co., Ltd. organized anti-pollution training and ship oil spill
emergency disposal drill, which further improved ship oil pollution emergency response
and disposal capabilities of the maritime law enforcement personnel.
Before the formal drill, the staffs of Wanzhou Marine Department and Chongqing
Changhang Rescue and Salvage Engineering Co., Ltd. learned the working principles
and usage methods of equipment such as oil absorbent pads, oil booms, oil skimmers
and how to carry out emergency disposal with a detailed and in-depth understanding.
At 10:00 am, the oil spill emergency drill officially was begun. A vessel oil spill occurred
in the waters of Yu'antuo, Wuling. After receiving the dangerous order, Wanzhou
Maritime Department quickly linked with Chongqing Changhang Rescue and Salvage
Engineering Co., Ltd. to arrange "Yangtze River Salvation No. 1" ship and "Haixun
12296" ship to rush to the accident site for oil spill disposal. The rescue ship was
skilled in completing vehicle preparation, unreeling, and steering, about 5 minutes
after the incident. "Yangtze River Salvage No. 1"ship was moored at the downwind
of the oil spill area, and the "Haixun 12296"ship towed oil booms to enclose all
floating oil spills in a timely and effective manner to prevent the leakage and
spread of oil pollution. At the same time, they announce the warning to
require passing ships to slow down and pay attention to avoidance, and
they also assisted in searching for other possible oil spill points. Afterwards,
the staffs manipulated the oil skimmers to slowly "inhale" the oil floating
on the water into the cargo compartment. With the efforts of all the
participants, the oil spills in the accident waters have been completely
cleared, and the ship oil emergency response drill has ended.
