"There is a lot of oil pollution in the water area near the water intake of Shilong Water Plant,
which endangers the safety of residents' water, and we requests the maritime department
to deal with it urgently." At 12:00 on April 24, the Laibin Maritime Bureau received a water
pollution report from the Shilong Town Government and immediately organized law
enforcement personnel to rush to the scene for disposal.
Law enforcement personnel came to the scene and saw that the area of oil pollution was
about 600 square meters, which was close to the water intake. The maritime department
immediately laid oil booms in the accident waters to prevent the spread of oil spills, and
used oil absorbing pads to recover and dispose the oil spills. At the same time, the VHF
(Very High Frequency Radio Waves) continuously broadcast navigation warnings to
strengthen the command of passing ships, and strengthened the command and dispatch
of passing ships near the waters to ensure that the disposal work did not affect the
passing of passing ships. After 4 hours of emergency treatment, the oil pollution was
cleaned up.
You Dingyu, the on-site disposal staff of the Laibin Maritime Bureau, said that after
received the report, they quickly mobilized a 200-meter oil booms and 50 kilograms
of oil absorbent pads to the scene for disposal. At present, the oil spill has been basically
cleared, and the next step will be to investigate the cause of the accident.
