On December 6, 2019, a practical water pollution emergency disposal drill was held
at Zhuma Ship Lock in Lianshui. Three units from Zhumazha, Lianshui County Maritime
Department, Lianshui County Channel Management Station, five law enforcement
boats and more than 30 law enforcement officers gathered here, it was simulated
the collision of a cargo ship crossing the gate as the background, then the oil spills
and water pollution incidents later occurred, and a joint water pollution prevention
combat drill was conducted to improve water emergency disposal abilities of the
joint department.
At the drill site, a cargo ship suffered a strong collision due to a helmsman's mishandling
when it passed the lock; it was caused the ship's fuel tank to overflow. After
received the report, the local transportation department quickly notified the maritime,
waterway, and ship lock units, and the affiliated unit immediately dispatched a law
enforcement boat upon receiving the notification , they rushed to the scene with
relevant personnel, clearly defined the division of labor, and deployed oil booms and
thrown oil absorbent pads in an orderly manner to contain and clean up the oil spill
at the scene of the accident, and at the same time they guided and maintain the
order of the past ships. The drill was lasted about an hour, and the joint coordination
mechanism and joint prevention and control capabilities of the water transport service
and regulatory authorities were tested, and the drill achieved the expected results.
