In order to further enhance the emergency command, coordination and disposal capabilities
of maritime emergencies in the jurisdiction, and strengthen regional emergency response
assistance and cooperation, on December 4, Fuzhou Majiang Maritime Office, Fujian Haiying

emergency oil pollution prevention drill.
According to reports, this drill was included the prevention and disposal of oil spills at the
wharf, the containment control of oil spills in the port, and the cleanup and recovery
these subjects. The drill was simulated when the "Hede Jingtang" ship was berthed at
Haiying Wharf, due to improper operation of the crew, the slop oil tank was opened
by mistake and the ship's slop oil leaked into the sea. According to the anti-pollution
emergency plan, all parties fulfilled their duties, closed ship-related valves, cut off
sources of pollution, placed surrounding oil booms in polluted waters, sprayed
oil dispersants on the sea surface, and thrown the oil absorbent pads for oil
pollution removal and recovery. After an hour of emergency disposal, the oil
spill was effectively controlled and recovered, and the drill was achieved a
complete success.
This drill was dispatched 3 ships and more than 30 participants. Through this
exercise, the emergency response and emergency coordination capabilities
of the terminal and operation vessels were tested, and the safety precaution
awareness of terminal operators and crew was enhanced. In the next step,
the Fuzhou Majiang Maritime Department will continue to strengthen the joint
ship-shore emergency drills in the areas under its jurisdiction to improve
the level of safe operations and emergency response capabilities.
