In order to further strengthen publicity and education on maritime safety production, enhance the 

knowledge of safe production and emergency management of maritime employees, and exercise 

emergency response teams for dangerous goods leakage, the Haigang Economic Zone has recently 

combined the actual operation and management according to the “Safe Production Month” activities 

of the District Management Committee. Weifang Sendamei Liquefied Products Terminal Co., Ltd. 

and Weifang Qiji Shipping Co., Ltd. and other units carried out oil spill emergency response drill at 

the 24 berth of the liquefied goods terminal.

During the drill, when the 5000 ton fuel oil tanker “Xinke 12” was carrying out unloading operations 

in the 24# liquefaction terminal berth. As the ship-to-shore connection oil hose was damaged, about 

0.3 tons of fuel oil was leaked into the sea. After received the report from the terminal operator, 

Weifang Sendamei Liquefaction Terminal Co., Ltd. immediately launched the emergency plan for the 

oil spill accident at the sea, and informed the rescue team of the ship rescue company to request the 

dispatch of the cleanup ships and the oil booms ships cooperated fully to carry out emergency response

work. It was deployed oil booms and oil absorbent pads for oil spill containment and oil spill clean-up.

Through this drill, the port operation enterprises in the harbor economic zone will further enhance their 

awareness of ship anti-pollution accidents and production safety accidents, improve the emergency

 response capabilities of sudden oil spill accidents in port operations enterprises, and inspect professional 

cleaning companies and port enterprises to prevent them. The use of contaminated equipment, the 

proficiency of operation and the effectiveness and operability of the anti-pollution emergency plan

 will improve the overall oil spill emergency response capacities of the zone and effectively maintain the 

stability of the water safety situation in the haigang economic zone.
