At 9:30 yesterday, with the command of the general commander of the drill, the Tianjin Municipal Maritime
Bureau 2019 safety production month water emergency rescue and anti-pollution drill was officially kicked
off in the waters of the Haihe River Baoding Bridge to the Daguangming Bridge. The drill was hosted by the
Tianjin Municipal Maritime Bureau, Municipal Waterway Engineering Office, Tianjin Tourism Shipping Company,
and Haohang Company participated in the drill. There were a total of 8 ships and 50 people participated in
the drill including professional rescue boats, sea patrol boats and passenger ships.
The drill was simulated when "Sightseeing No. 10" ship carried passengers to pass through the Baoding
Bridge waters, it was occured leakage accident caused by underwater obstacles. After the oil spill was
discovered, the ship's staffs immediately rushed to the beach and reported the accident to the local
maritime department, and they waited for rescue.
After received the report, the Tianjin Local Maritime Inland River Search and Rescue Center immediately
launched a Class II emergency response plan, promptly mobilized various water forces to carry out rescue
operations, conducted temporary traffic control on the upstream and downstream waters of the accident,
and organized and mobilized relevant emergency rescue forces to arrive at the dangerous scene. The sea
patrol boats and the maritime assault boats carried the anti-pollution emergency treatment equipment to
the waters of the accident. By deploying the oil booms, throwing the oil absorbent pads and spraying
oil dispersant, the diesel oil was intercepted and removed to prevent the oil spreading from flowing with
the water to the Haihe River.
After 60 minutes of emergency disposal, the oil spill was effectively controlled and cleared. The accident
ship “Sightseeing No. 10” was towed away and the drill was successfully completed.
