Two ships collided in the Wenzhou sea area and the hull was difficult to separate.
Under the surge of the waves, the two ships continued to violently hit. One of
the ships had a progressive increase in the water on the starboard side, and the
hull showed a right tilt. A total of 31 people on both ships were waiting for the
rescue... The thrilling scene took place on the sea near the Beiyuanyu lamppost
in Dongtou the day before yesterday.
"The two ships that collided were the Taizhou-based 'Hongchengyun 3' tanker and
the Ningbo-based 'Mingzhou 66' tanker. The collision point was 2 nautical miles east
of the Beiyuanyu lamppost in Dongtou." The staff from Wenzhou Maritime Search and
Rescue Center said that after received the rescue call, they immediately dispatched
rescue forces such as "Sea Patrol 0761" ship to the scene to guide the crew to put
on life jackets, take emergency plugging measures as required, and close the oil pipeline
to prevent oil spills, and used some oil absorbent pads in the pipelines
The rescuers coordinated the tugboats to carry the towing to the distressed vessels,
alleviating the further increase of the rightward tilt, and quickly coordinating the technicians
of the Dongtou Shipyard to carry the professional equipment to the scene to cut and
separate the joints of the two ships.
After nearly 5 hours of emergency disposal, the joints of the collision points of the two
ships were safely cut and separated, and the water intake of the ship was initially controlled,
and all the personnel on board were rescued. The "Mingzhou 66" ship was escorted by
the sea patrol ships and tugboat towed. At about 20 o'clock on the 12th, it was safe to
rush to unload the cargo at the Dongtou Zhuangyuanao Wharf to prevent the hull from
sinking. The "Hongchengyun 3" tanker arrived at the designated location.
The relevant person in charge of the Wenzhou Maritime Bureau said that the cause of the
accident is currently under investigation. The maritime department also reminded the
relevant vessels to drive carefully during the maritime navigation operations in the foggy
season, strengthen the hopes, and prepare for the prevention of bad weather conditions
