At noon yesterday, Ningbo Shipping Bureau and the Nanjing Petroleum Transportation
Department of Sinopec Pipeline Storage and Transportation Branch jointly conducted
a maritime oil spill emergency drill in Hangzhou Bay.
With the rapid development of the Ningbo-Zhoushan port economy, the number of
ships passing through the region and the number of ships carrying dangerous goods
have increased dramatically. The three submarines that transport large arteries cross
the Hangzhou Bay waters, it was increased the risk of oil spills. In response to this
situation, the Ningbo Municipal Navigation Bureau set up the "Surface Sudden Oil
Spill Emergency Disposal Plan" and tested its practicability and operability through drills.
In the morning that day, the drill was simulated the sudden rupture and leakage of
the Sinopec pipelines. The Nanjing Petroleum Transport Department discovered the
dangerous situation and quickly launched a contingency plan to initiate emergency
operations for oil spill cleanup at sea. According to instructions, the Ningbo navigation
mark dispatched two landing crafts, Haitou 1048 and Haibiao 1045, and rushed to
the scène. Inflatable rubber booms were placed on site and oil skimmers were used
to simulate a spray dispersant. One hour later, the oil spill at sea was effectively
“controlled”, the water pollution was successfully removed, and the subjects were
completed.
