On September 4th, 2018 national oil spill emergency response actual drill
was successfully held in the east side of Xiushan Island in Zhoushan Port,
which was lasting after 90 minutes.
It is understood that the drill will simulate the collision of a foreign oil tanker
"A" with a foreign container ship "B" in the waters outside Zhoushan, causing
the "A" round to explode, 12 crew members fell into the water, and 7 crew
members trapped in the bow deck area, and more than 1,000 tons of crude
oil leaked into the sea, and the "B" ship was slightly damaged. After the
dangerous situation occurred, the national, provincial and municipal levels
immediately launched an emergency response and organized the force to
rescue. It was dispatched drones to search for drowning people and ships
for rescue, and then deployed oil booms, used oil absorbent pads and
oil skimmer for controlling, absorbing and recovering leaked oil. Finally the drill
was achieved successfully.
According to reports, the drill was held in the form of desktop deduction
and post-exercise exercises. The desktop deduction was carried out
simultaneously in Beijing and Zhejiang on August 28th. The actual drill
was conducted in a script-free mode, focusing on the organization,
coordination, command, equipment use and on-site disposal of major
offshore oil spill emergency disposal sites.
The experts believe that this drill has strengthened the three-level
linkage among the ministry, the province and the city. The drill was
authentic, practical and targeted, and has effectively improved the
oil spill disposal and maritime search and rescue capabilities.
