In order to further test the actual combat capability of the emergency rescue team

for water safety accidents, strengthen the leadership command decision-making and 

overall coordination ability, recently, 2018 water emergency safety emergency rescue 

drill was held in Xianhai Lake, which guided by the Municipal Tourism Development 

Committee, sponsored by the Party Working Committee and Management Committee

of Xianhai District, and jointly organized by Xianhai District Tourism Development 

Center and Youxian District Fire Brigade.

This drill was divided into three subjects. The first was the ship collision, people drowning 

and the rescue operations. It was simulated a passenger speedboat accidentally collided 

with a cruise ship near the Xianhai Lake dam due to mechanical failure, causing passengers 

on the cruise ship to fall into the water. The video monitoring room staff found the danger 

and immediately reported to the on-site duty officer and notified the emergency rescue team.

After received the report, the emergency command quickly launched the emergency plan 

and sent a water rescue team to drive the emergency rescue ship to the accident waters for

rescue. At the same time, the ship near the accident waters quickly called to the accident 

waters to start mutual rescue. After the rescue team rescued the drowning people on the 

life-saving speedboat, they will return the drowning personnel back to the dock in time 

and handed them over to the 120 emergency workers for further ambulance work.

Then, a ship fire emergency response drill was carried out. Due to the fire caused by the 

collision, the emergency rescue team immediately used fire extinguishers and fire water

guns on the ship to extinguish the fire. After a few minutes, the fire was extinguished. 

In the final ship oil spill prevention and disposal drill, the drill site simulated fuel leakage due 

to collision of the accident ship, and a large area of oil appeared on the water surface, 

which floated on the lake surface and expanded the pollution waters. After received the

instructions,the rescue team immediately controlled the oil spill by polluting the waters,

using oil absorbent pads for recovering and spraying oil dispersant for disposing oil. With 

the cooperation of various departments, the site accidents were safely and timely disposed.

The relevant person in charge of the drill told the reporter that the drill was to strengthen 

the rescue skills and environmental protection awareness of all departments and water transport

enterprises in the sudden water safety accidents, and to minimize the casualties caused by 

sudden water safety accidents, economic losses and environmental pollution, efforts to ensure

the safety of life and property of the majority of tourists, and to do a good job in the protection 

of the water environment.
