During the ship unload methylbenzene, discharge hoses sudden leaking caused spillage,

a crew member poisoning were injured. This was a sudden accident on No.7 dock of

Lingang, without any script, marine department and ten more professional cleaning units

have simulate a real rescue for hazardous chemical leakage on Sea, this was also a

first emergency drill of hazardous chemical leakage on sea without any script in China.

1:00pm in the afternoon, “Zhao yang 502”ship on No.7 dock of Lingang was unloading

the ships with hazardous chemical, the hoses occured leaking and 500kg methylbenzene

leakage, polluted areas include wharf apron,main deck and nearby sea. After the

maritime rescue sub-center received the report,immediately report to Tianjin maritime

rescue center, start the contingency plans. Hospital ambulance men and other two fire

fight tugboat rushed to the scene for rescue. Then harbor staffs come into the scene

with Heavy type Chemical Protective Suits for stopping leaking and prevent the further

leaks of pollution sources. Meanwhile,the emergency response staffs use Containment

Boom to contain the leaking hazardous chemical on the sea and use the Chemical

Absorbent Products to rapidly absorb and clean up. 1.5 hours later, the pollution

being controlled and the wounded have been properly treated.
