On the morning of June28, 2018 Weihai Maritime Oil Spill Emergency Drill was Held in Chengshantou Sea Area, 9 ships and more than 100 people participated in this drill.
The drill was simulated a bulk carrier hit the unknown seabed in Chengshantou waters, which resulted in the damage of the fuel tank and leakage of fuel into the sea, it has posed a threat to the sea and shoreline environment. The Weihai Maritime Oil Spill Emergency Management Command Center immediately coordinated emergency forces to carry out three drill subjects such as maritime emergency traffic control, oil spill monitoring and monitoring, and offshore oil spill control.
The oil spill equipment used in this drill which was shipped from the Chengshantou
Oil Spill Equipment Warehouse, and they immediately put into the clean-up work.
In this drill, underwater robots were used for underwater exploration in Weihai
City for the first time; the accident ships were controlled within 60 seconds using
a quick oil boom system; and used unmanned remote-controlled self-propelled
recovery vessels for oil spill removal; it also used a multi-functional oil skimmer to
recover the spilled oil. These technological products provide an effective guarantee
for the emergency oil spill disposal.
The Weihai Chengshantou water area is a major north-to-south sea transportation
channel in China. There is a large amount of oil and chemical products on the sea.
There are over 120,000 ships in the past, of which more than 10,000 are oil tankers.
In addition, there are ultra large ships loaded with large quantities of marine fuel.
Once a sea accident occurs, the pollution of marine oil spills can easily have a serious
impact on the city's marine ecology, economic and trade, and the safety of life and
property of coastal people. Through the drills, we effectively tested the actual capability
of the Chengshantou National Oil Spill Emergency Equipment Repository, exercised the
coordination, command, and emergency response capabilities of the Maritime Search and
Rescue Center of the city in responding to maritime emergencies, and improved the ability
to handle oil spill emergency and part-time teams, promoted comprehensive prevention,
control, and disposal level of oil spills at sea in our city.
