Oil spills on a driveway can be unsightly and can also pose a safety hazard if left unaddressed. Here are some steps you can take to
remove an oil spill from your driveway:
1)Absorb the excess oil: Use an absorbent material such as Oil Absorbent Mat, Oil Absorbent Socks and Oil Absorbent Granules
to absorb the excess oil. Sprinkle the absorbent material over the spill and let it sit for a few hours to absorb the oil.
2)Sweep up the Oil Absorbent Granules and take out the other absorbent materials: Once the absorbent material has had time
to work, take them out. Be sure to dispose of it properly.
3)Apply a cleaning solution: Mix a cleaning solution of hot water and a strong detergent or degreaser, such as dish soap or
laundry detergent. Apply the solution to the spill and scrub the area with a stiff-bristled brush.
4)Rinse with water: After scrubbing, rinse the area with a hose or pressure washer. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove all
the cleaning solution and any remaining oil.
5)Repeat if necessary: If the spill is particularly stubborn, you may need to repeat the cleaning process several times to
completely remove it.
6)Prevent future spills: Take steps to prevent future spills by using drip pans or Spill Containment Berms under parked vehicles,
checking your car for leaks regularly, and avoiding spills when refueling.
7)Note: It's important to dispose of any materials used for cleaning the oil spill properly, as they can be hazardous. Check with
your local waste management authority for guidance on how to dispose of oil-contaminated materials.
