On May 8, the reporter was learned from the Municipal Port and Shipping (Local Maritime) Bureau
that the agency completed a full-scale safety inspection of second phase of the Shunan River Waterway
Dredging and Regulation Project in operating ships, it was purposed to lay the foundation for better
carrying out the safety supervision of the Shunan River Phase II Dredging and Regulation project.
It is reported that this project is underway. The total length of the project is 11.6 kilometers. The
main construction contents was included dredging project by using silt curtains and dredger,
bank protection project, anti-seepage project, beacon engineering project and special project.
In order to have a more complete understanding of the safety status of all engineering vessels
operating in the Shun’an River, the Bureau has carried out operational vessel safety inspections.
The focus of the inspection was on dredging work vessels in the Shunan River Waterway.
The City of Port and Shipping (Local Maritime) Shunan Department has deployed a law
enforcement force to participate in the investigation and invited senior ship security
inspectors from Tongling Maritime Department to provide technical support.
It has inspected various types of engineering ships' certificates, crew qualification certificates,
and engineering ships' firefighting, lighting, life-saving equipment, anti-pollution equipment,
and engineering machinery. The ship owners shall be ordered to rectify the problems that
have been checked out, and the problems existing in the inspections shall be reported to the
construction and construction units, and they shall be required to strengthen internal
management and implement the main responsibilities.
