Recently, the 2000-ton waterway improvement project from Laibin to Guiping has been fully started.
The project has a mileage of 193.87 kilometers. It starts from the Bingang operation area of Laibin
Port and ends at the intersection of Sanjiangkou in Guiping. The sub-dam section of the Datengxia Dam
in Guiping of the Qianjiang River is the key section of the project, including the reef cleaning, dredging
operations(including using silt curtains and dredging ships) and navigation beacon setting of Tonggu Beach,
Sanjiangkou and other dangerous beaches.
Qianjiang is the necessary waterway for ships operating in Laibin, Liuzhou and other places to reach
the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Among them, the upper reaches of the Datengxia
reservoir area averages more than 200 ships waiting to pass through the gates to the Pearl River Delta
every day. After the completion of the channel improvement project, the level of the channel from
Laibin to Guiping has been upgraded from a fifth-level channel to a second-level channel, and 2000-ton
ships can directly reach the Pearl River Delta, which is important for accelerating the development of
the Pearl River-Xijiang Economic Belt and serving the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao
Greater Bay Area.
